experimentNo. 0058categoryRituals & ceremoniesrecordingpendingdataCC BY 4.0

Recording pending publication. Follow along for the release.

Setup

  • Seventeen cues over 312 seconds, from the Opening of the Tomb through the three Points to the Closing.
  • Officers: the Chief, Second and Third Adepts and an introducer, with the aspirant.
  • A seven-sided vault, each wall five feet broad and eight feet high at a model scale of 0.28 units per foot, with forty coloured squares per wall, a circular altar, the Pastos and a rose on the white ceiling.
  • Controls: square colouring mixed or juxtaposed (both permitted by Regardie) and a viewport cutaway.

Measurement

  • Retinal input only. The aspirant's retina always sees the closed room; the cutaway applies only to viewport cameras.
  • The ceremony, gestures and pacing are programmed from the published text.

Limitations

  • Paraphrased from Regardie's The Golden Dawn, vol. II (1938), with the Vault as described in the Fama Fraternitatis (1614). Three Points are condensed into about five minutes.
  • Fly participants, model scale, lighting and pacing are reconstruction choices. Cords and the wine-dipped dagger are shown as gentle, non-graphic signs.
  • The activity represents a historical rite and makes no claim that the ritual has any effect.
